about

"The Infinite Sea" started out as a bass line Pete wrote to accompany the song "My Heart" by singer/songwriter Jo Griffiths when he performed live with her band "The Mighty House" for a number of gigs in 1996. The song had been recorded by Jo, on vocal and guitar, for the band's debut album "Love The Sea Is Blue". Pete composed some more music to accompany the bass line which Jo liked but they never recorded a version of the song together. When Pete returned to working on the Glasshouse project in 2020, reworking that music was very much a part of his plans. The synthetic sea sound is a tribute to the composer of the first album that Pete ever bought - "Oxygene" by Jean Michel Jarre. The album blew his 12 year old mind and made him want to be a musician. The music of the album is based on the iconic piece of art featured on the album cover and deals with the theme of the fragile nature of Earth and humanity itself. Jo's song "My Heart" speaks, with the voice of our planet, of the lack of love given to her by humanity. These themes are echoed in "The Infinite Sea", invoking the divine, the infinite, the unknown, the source of love that is available to humanity if it chooses to seek it. Pete re-worked the original music he composed, adding guitars and a new performance of the bass line. The track was published on YouTube in July 2020.
